This is a major version upgrade because it includes new CRDs. Flux should take care of these, so we could merge it and hope for the best?

I merged this because I thought our workflow would be:

• merge everything into main which has a green pipeline
• test if auto-upgrades work (#961 (closed))
  • if so, merge into v0.8-pre
  • if not, leave in main for later major release.

So lets see if things break and follow that plan, right ?
